About Me
I was born in Mora, (Dalarna), Sweden on 1 February 1953 and emigrated to the United States when I was 12 years old in 1964. We lived in Melbourne Beach, Florida and Papa worked for Nasa. (No Swedes where I lived.) In 1967, Papa moved the family to Rochester, New York, where I remain today. (VERY few Swedes here as well.) When I first moved here, there was a Vasa Lodge, but all of the members, with the exception of ne, were quite old, and they all, one by one, died off and the lodge closed. Now there is a Scandinavian Heritage Society and they still hold lutfisk dinners and a Lucia celebration in December, but it's not really the same. Still VERY few Swedes. I really miss being able to talk about my heritage and traditions. I would love to have somewhere where I could swap recipes, get patterns for a Lucia gown send away for Swedish handcrafts for the house, etc. Anyone wishing to be a pen-pal, I would love to correspond!
